LinkedIn Marketing Tips for Financial Advisors

LinkedIn has always marketed itself as the social media platform for professionals. It’s not as popular as Facebook, Instagram or Twitter, and you certainly won’t find funny cat videos or the latest dance craze on your LinkedIn feed.

But if you want to make your mark in your niche, gather more insights about your industry, and introduce your brand to your peers and important decision-makers, there’s no better platform than LinkedIn.

Because of its business-centric and professional user base, LinkedIn is a great platform to market professional services like a financial advisor practice. A study byHubSpot found that LinkedIn was 277% more effective at converting website visitors into leads, when compared to more popular platforms such as Facebook and Twitter.

But how do you do this effectively? Here are a couple of useful tips to get your LinkedIn marketing moving in the right direction.

Update and Polish Up Your Profile

The first thing you need to do is set up a separate business profile for your financial advisor practice. Make sure it has a professional looking logo and that it accurately describes your company’s mission, values and offerings.

You also need to polish up your personal profile. Make sure it has a great-looking headshot, a complete picture of your credentials, accomplishments, experience, and if possible, recommendations from your professional network.

Working on both your business page and personal profile makes you look more credible to those who haven’t heard of you or your brand before.

Reach Out to Expand Your Network

Don’t be afraid to reach out to new people so that you can add them to your LinkedIn network. You should also make sure the people who are following you also know about your business page. You should also let your existing clients know about your LinkedIn page. Adding social media links on your website is also a great way to get more LinkedIn followers easily.

To maximize the effort you put into your posts, you need to have a bigger audience. If you only have a handful of people following you, you’re not really taking advantage of the benefits that social media networks can provide.

Establish Your Expertise

If you want to get noticed on any social media platform, you have to be posting regularly. However, you need to be careful about what you post. You don’t want your followers to think that you’re just posting a bunch of worthless links and spamming them with useless information.

LinkedIn is a great place to establish yourself as a thought leader because it’s very business and industry focused. It’s where you can find an audience who will appreciate your unique insights and advanced knowledge in your niche.

You don’t always need to create your own content for your posts. You can repost content from your website so that it can reach a new audience, or just share news and updates from other sources that people in your network might find interesting.

Use Images and Videos to Boost Engagement

Like with any social media platform, people will be more drawn to your posts if you use attractive pictures and interesting videos. This is especially important if you want to boost your posts by paying for sponsored content. You’ll be reaching out to people who have never heard of you before, so you’ll need to give them a compelling reason to click on your post. Without a great-looking image, your sponsored posts will look bland and boring, and won’t make your message any more interesting than the other posts they’ll see in their news feeds.
